Rebecca grew up surrounded by animals on her family’s farm in Saskatchewan. Her love for animals started in adolescence and continues to this day. After graduating VIU with a Bachelor of Interior Design, she started working in the design field and discovered it wasn’t a career she enjoyed. A long pandemic gave her time to think about how she could translate her passion for animals into a career. What finally led Rebecca to become a professional dog trainer was her interest and curiosity while raising her own puppy, Emma.
Rebecca was first introduced to the dog industry through her job at a dog grooming salon. There she gained much knowledge about dog handling and their body language. She has completed the Professional Dog Trainer Program through the West Coast Canine Academy. Soon after, she opened her own training business, Spark Dog Academy. She and her clients would work through issues and develop strong relationships with their pets. She loves working in a team with BabyDog and is excited to collaborate and share ideas with one another. Rebecca continues to educate through online training platforms, books, podcasts, and learning with other dog professionals. Reactivity, puppy and adult dog behaviour and dog-owner relationships are something Rebecca is especially motivated to learn about.
Rebecca enjoys spending her spare time with her dog Emma, swimming, creating art and singing.
