We moved to the island in December with our 2-year-old Italian Mastiff, Reese. Due to the stress of the move Reese became reactive around all dogs and some people. Given that he’s a big boy (110 lbs of muscle), walking Reese around the dense spaces in the city of Victoria filled us (and Reese) with anxiety. Walks with Reese became a stressful chore rather than a fun, bonding activity with our pup. Thankfully we found Ruth at BabyDog! Ruth was so kind, patient and knowledgeable that by the end of our first session Reese was going belly up to get Ruth to scratch him. With Ruth’s excellent guidance, we practiced our new skills at home, parks, trails, and wherever we could go to learn and get better at managing Reese’s anxiety. The hard work paid off and Reese is now a very happy boy who’s a pleasure to walk around the city or wherever we choose to go. Engaging. I found BabyDog Aviva and Ruth to be very Engaging. Their approach in classes to both puppy and puppy owner was very attractive and pleasing in a way that holds your attention. Their stories, smiles and positive reinforcement worked for me and worked even better with my puppy. I loved how BabyDog shared their knowledge of canine behaviour, demonstrated patience in the learning process, and especially how they shared their love and joy in helping every BabyDog client become a wonderful puppy parent. Aviva and Ruth worked with my family and my puppy Cookie for over a year, and we have a dog that we are proud to take anywhere.

If you’re looking for puppy training, you can stop now. You’ve found the best. My pup, Zion, a three-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog, has gained more in his training sessions with Baby Dog than I could possibly have accomplished on my own. Like any over-functioning pup parent, I read the books, listened to the podcasts, and watched the YouTube videos. None of that compared to the information, coaching, and motivation we received from our trainer, Danika. Each week, Danika presented us with new training tools, discussed them in detail, and went though the steps with Zion. Then I would make my attempts, with Danika giving helpful tips and tricks along the way. Zion absolutely loved Danika. She was lovely with him: calm energy, engaging demeanour, and just the right amount of assertiveness when he needed it. Danika was flexible with the sessions, keeping us on track, but was also happy to answer all of my random questions. Her follow up emails were very helpful. Now that we’ve completed the beginner sessions, I plan to take a few months off, then attend the intermediate classes. Danika has given us so much to work with, and I look forward to watching Zion develop his skills then show them off when we meet again!

Dave is a great trainer. My Staffordshire Terrier - Blue loves seeing Dave and does everything Dave asks of him. Dave is easy to talk to and understands what I would like to work towards being able to do with Blue. Blue and I will continue training with Dave. I highly recommend him.

Dave is great to work with and really knows how to train the human and your dog with understanding, compassion and patience. He is a great resource for how to's, and really went above and beyond when I messaged with an SOS in between training sessions. Thank you again and I highly recommend!

One of our dogs has been anxious and reactive around other dogs. Even though he is a sweet little guy, walking him was something none of us could look forward to anymore. I was fortunate to meet Danika in another setting, and she mentioned she specializes in working with reactive dogs. We arranged some sessions and found that not only is she a super skilful and compassionate trainer, she's an all around fun and generous human being. In the first session, we learned tools and principles that began to help immediately. By the second session, our dog was comfortable being in fairly close proximity to hers. After a few more sessions we were able to enjoy our walks again, even actively seeking out dogs as conditioning opportunities. We're so happy and impressed!!

It only took one lesson to see improvement in my dog. She has completely turned around in 4 lessons, and now we have the tools to keep growing on our own. The other dog owners in our neighborhood are constantly complimenting Beans on how far she’s come!

Baby Dog…I must say, having had dogs all of my life, showing, training, and competing, taking my new young “man” to baby socialization classes was brilliant! Baby Dog taught me a lot as well. I love that they teach and use positive reinforcement philosophy for training. As we encountered some growing pain challenges, particularly with “focusing”, I took advantage of a few private lessons that were spot on! Aviva knew which tool to pull out of her tool box to assist with our particular challenges. Thank you Aviva and Co for all that you do and offer! I have a dog who loves to work, is engaged and focused, and who interacts respectfully with other canines! I highly recommend Baby Dog…for your young pup, as well as your “mature” pup.

I highly recommend Dave and Tomey K9 Services! I knew my 6 y.o. Yorkiepoo Benny wanted to please, but I didn't know where to begin to help him rein in all of his energy around people and reactivity around other dogs. Dave taught me how to use redirection and positive reinforcement to help Benny become more obedient and calm. Benny now looks to me to see how he should react when another dog or distraction is coming our way, and I know how to help him through what used to be anxiety provoking situations. These guys are just brilliant, we started the puppy classes with our 13 week old feisty pomsky and it had a hugely beneficial effect on her behavior, the private lessons helped us iron out early problems and now at 1.5 years old we have an amazing lovable behaved dog that s a true joy. Knowledgeable, patient with dogs and humans :) Recommended!

Danika is very professional, and encouraging in ensuring you get the value for the training. She was able to address behavioral issues with my puppy and was able to provide effective solutions. More importantly, she provided tips on how to train humans and little humans on proper dog handling.
